Corvette Caravan September 2023 Update
30th Anniversary of the National Corvette Museum Celebration (NCM)
August 29-31, 2024
Registration for the Corvette Caravan museum activities will open around mid-October 2023 and close July 8, 2024. If you don’t register with a Caravan, you will still be able to register at the museum after July 8 for the NCM activities. The reason for the deadline is to allow Caravan Captains to receive the credentials for their Caravan participants prior to the start of the caravan.
NCM registration fees are: Non-member $85 Member $60 Lifetime Member $50
Special Corvette Parking: $750. Some caravans have their own schedule of registration fees check any Caravan that you wish to join.
Standard parking will be in outlying areas, including the Motorsports Complex, with 4 large contract buses available all day to transport you to and from the museum.
The schedule of NCM activities, released in October, will be a skeleton agenda. It will be filled in as various speakers, vendors, etc commit to a specific time and activity. Check it often to see what is available.
Volunteers are needed to work during the Caravan. Outdoor shifts are 2.25 hours; Indoor shifts are 4 hours. All volunteers receive a museum volunteer shirt for each day you work as well as lunch.
We are working with two of the Caravan Captains in regard to driving our Corvettes on the track at Talladega Super Speedway (Aug 27) and/or the track at the Nashville Super Speedway (Aug 28). They are trying to get an estimate of the number of participants to determine timing, cost, etc. At this time, estimated cost is around $110-125 for 3.5 laps on each track.
To gauge interest from our club, email Bill O @ publicrelationsvetswithvettes@gmail.com detailing your interest in taking your Corvette on the track at Talladega Superspeedway or the track at Nashville Superspeedway (or both!) as well as whether you would like to join the group for dinner at Los Trojas on Tuesday, August 27 and if you plan to drive with one of the Caravans to the NCM. You are not obligated to any of these activities by indicating your interest at this time. We just need an estimate of the number interested to give to the organizers for planning purposes. If you provided your items at the September cruise-in, it is not necessary to send it again.
The Louisiana Caravan will depart from Talladega August 27 after driving the track for the drive to Huntsville for the night. There will be clubs from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Northern Florida. They expect to bring about 100 cars to Huntsville.
We will arrange a group dinner at Los Trojas on University Drive to welcome them all to our area. The Louisiana Caravan will stay at the Hampton Inn/Home 2 Suites and depart from there on the morning of Aug 28 for the drive to the Nashville Super Speedway approximately 2 hours from here. They do not plan to drive up I65.
You do not have to register for either Caravan to participate in the track day/s. As additional information is provided we will update the club on the Blog and at our cruise-in meetings.
This is what we need to know:
1. Do you want to drive on one or both of the tracks? Which track?
2. Will you attend the no-host dinner at Los Trojas? Number in your party.
3. Are you planning to join one of the Caravans to travel to the NCM?
Email your interest to Bill O @ publicrelationsvetswithvettes@gmail.com
