Better Business Bureau of North Alabama (BBB North Alabama), in partnership with Family Security Credit Union and Gone For Good, will host its free, annual Spring Shred Day in Huntsville on Friday, April 17, offering residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of sensitive documents and reduce their risk of identity theft.
“Shred Days are one of the most practical ways we help families prevent identity theft,” said Karen Reeves, President and CEO. “Securely destroying outdated documents is a simple step that makes a big difference.” The event will offer free on-site document shredding and electronic recycling, courtesy of Gone For Good.
Residents may bring up to three kitchen-sized bags or three standard file boxes per vehicle. Paper documents only; binders, plastic, and metal materials must be removed. Services will be available until shred trucks reach capacity. For electronic recycling, items must be less than 100 lbs. Acceptable items include computers (limit 2 per car) and cell phones. Home appliances, computer monitors, and TVs are not accepted.
A special thanks to our community partners, the City of Huntsville, Cook's Pest Control, and Torch Technologies.
